The nazi deportations of the Slovene population living in the frontier zone of the occupied Slovene Styrie were the greatest mass genocidical action of the German occupation authorities. They banished the Slovene intelligentsia and apart of the country population in order to make a defence zone in the south of the German state. From the land along the rivers Sava and Sotla were banished: from 21st April to 27th September 644 persons to the occupied Serbia and quisling NDH (Independent State of Croatia), from 20th October1941 to 12th Avgust 1942 further 36.300 persons to the camps Volksdeutscher Mittelstelle in Germany. Their homes were Occupied by 13.817 volksdeutschers.
