The author deals with the activities of Karel Kovač (1880-1917),
born in Ljubljana, who after studies of history in Graz and Innsbruck
and after archive studies in Rome headed the Dubrovnik Record Office
from 1911 to 1914. During a very short period he in addition to
perfect archival expert activities published numerous archival sources
and historical studies, being connected most of all to the history
of medieval Dubrovnik, partly, however, also to the history of Southern
Slavs.
