Although the issues connected to the public activities and public relations of the Slovene archives were only scarcely dealt with in professional publications, they were not neglected in archival practice. On the contrary, the activités have a long tradition and, as foreign professionals also established, can be easily compared to similar activités in Europe. They can be divided into five levels: public relations through mass media, pedagogical and educational activités of the archives (among them is also the cooperation with general educational institutions on all levels), publishing and editorial activities of the archives, which have grown markedly during the last twenty years, exhibitional activities (with the oldest tradition dating back to the mid-fifties), and giving assistance to the users of archival material (to the vistors of the archives' reading rooms as well as dealing with written inquiries; the number of the last has increased rapidly in the last few years).
