The article describes the historical development and principles of the Penal Code of
1929, which was in force until World War II. This is a very important period in the
development of criminal law in Slovenia, as it represents the end of a long period
during which criminal proceedings were in force in Slovenia, the concept and basic
principles of which resembled the criminal laws of the countries which were most
developed and which had the most advanced legislatures. It is essential to have a
knowledge of the work and administration of criminal courts and their organisation
(which is a prerequisite for the evaluation and management of their archival records),
because these courts play an important role in every society.
