In this article, the author presents two new computer
programs for describing and scanning the construction
plans and photographic material kept in the archives. The
programs are the first of their kind (written in Microsoft
Access) in Slovenia and were produced by the Historical
Archives of Ljubljana in cooperation with the Mikrofilm
d.o.o. Ljubljana company. The programs include the
international archival and museum standards and elements
of description, as well as all other features rec|
uircd by the most contemporary methods of archival
and museum documentation of cultural heritage. The aim
of the programs is to do away with the current practice of
direct physical contact with the archival and museum
documents by providing rapid access to, onscreen viewing
and computer printouts of sensitive, original documents
and data for researchers and other archive users.
Additional features for onscreen viewing of plans and
blueprints stored on microfilm are currently being added
to the programme.
