In preparing this contribution the author has followed
the recommendations of the organizers of International
Conferences on Archives of the States of Central and
Lastern Europe and has divided it into six sections. The
first section deals with the theoretical and practical aspects
of the term 'common archival heritage', the second
and third sections present the historical resons for its
formation, with special emphasis on Slovenia, the fourth
describes the existing methods of solving problems related
to joint archival heritage of significance for Slovene
history and located abroad, the fifth section proposes
some solutions to such problems on the basis of Slovene
experiences and the recommendations of the International
Archive Council, and the sixth seclion provides
some basic data on common archival heritage kept by
archives in Slovenia which is of significance for other
countries.
