The article draws attention to numerous professional
archival principles and criteria for the appraisal, selection
and transfer of archival materials, which must, in an
objective and professional way, enable the preservation
of the optimal amount of archival cultural heritage and
its transfer to archives. The article also discusses some of
the political aspects of records appraisal, which conditioned
the transfer of records to archives in numerous
countries in the last fifty years which interfered with the
profession of archival science and its integrity, causing
great damage to the world's archival cultural heritage.
