A population census was carried out for the first time in 1830 on the basis of an imperial patent of 1804 and new instructions of 1829. The statistical questionnaires for the town of Ljubljana (Conscriptions Aufnahms Bogen) have been fully preserved and are today arranged in eleven census units by Ljubljana cadastral municipalities and house numbers (Town 1 to 314, Poljansko predmestje [Poljane suburb] from 1 to 98 …). The census of Ljubljana’s population of 1830 contains data for the years from 1830 to 1857.
