History Citation Index
History Citation
Index (Zgodovinarski Indeks
Citiranosti – ZIC) includes a list of citations in Slovene
historical monographs, newspapers and magazines. ZIC search engine
provides those who look for information on Slovene historiography a
general overview of historiographical science production and basic information
on the content of works quoted. By way of bibliometric methods, it allows
analyses and display of quotation frequency of historians and their
works in professional volumes and magazines.
In addition, the citation index at the SIstory portal also addresses the doubts
emerging in Europe and worldwide in discussions on the position and
evaluation of historical or humanities research performed by bibliometric
and scientometric tools. The shortcoming of the existing indices is
that they completely ignore the scientific monographs regardless of
the citations number, and thereby their significance in the field of
historiography.
The SIstory portal's history citation index includes scientific papers of main history
periodicals in Slovenia, as well as volumes classified in Cobiss such
as scientific monographs, collections of reviewed scientific conferences
and symposia. The criteria for including the monographs in the category
of history was rather broad, and not limited to the volumes classified
in the said category by UDK, but encompassing all monographs identified
in Cobiss by the keyword 'history'.
The history citation index project has not been completed. Thus far it incorporates
scientific papers and monographs published in Slovenia between 2005
and 2006. In addition, the ZIC also encompasses the existing database of citations employed at the
Institute of Contemporary History which has been underway since 2003,
thus providing more detailed information on the Institute's staff citations.
We shall further pursue listing the citations of Slovene historians by including entries
prior to 2005. The results will be even better if you join us and deliver
your entries or existing databases. All historical research and
educational institutions are most welcome to participate in our project.
As to the search, two options are provided: with basic search you may select search requirement
from the list of search terms. The search is available by the work's
author, the work's title, the author of the work quoted,
title of the work quoted and the title of the source,
i.e. the publication. In addition to a combined search with several
search requirements, the advanced search also provides the possibility
of limiting the search results (year of publication, self-citations,
etc.). When entering the author’s data (or quoted author), be sure
to pay attention to word order – surname first, followed by first
name. |
