Aim
By digitalising the Slovene historical sources and literature and transferring their contents online, we want to provide the public an easier and more comprehensive access to data on this country’s background.
SIstory is an education and research portal of Slovene historiography. By transferring older and contemporary documented publications to a new media and technology, we sustain the relevancy of historical knowledge and discourse engendered in the form of scientific papers, articles, reviews, reports, collected and published secondary as well as primary sources and monographs.
The SIstory portal is aimed at the historiography in its entirety. A digitalised database of historiographic literature and sources means the formation of an information database with a wide content range. It is this very diversity in terms of content and chronology, along with public access, that is important, because it allows - both to researchers of various disciplines, as well as interested public – the retrieval of digitalised contents as well as their use in scientific studies and research. The digitalisation of Slovene historical literature and sources provides easier and more comprehensive accessibility to a wide variety of users. In this way, both professionals and laymen gain admittance to the historiography and knowledge of Slovenia's past.
In addition to promoting the findings of Slovene historiography, the SIstory portal also establishes a platform for international and interdisciplinary discussions by allowing local, national and international connections in the field of research and education. Furthermore, it is open to discussions on current events and news publications. Thus the portal is aimed at professionals, researchers, teachers, students, and those interested in the past.
We plan to upgrade the pages with new links, additional contents, contributions, monographs and sources. The pages currently presented are still under construction. This is just the beginning. Thus anyone – researcher, professor, student or the curious – is welcome to participate, expand its contents, develop new ideas and give personal views on possible dilemmas. In this way we can preserve the documents and material relevant to Slovene history.
