    • The discussions in the Carniolan Provincial Assembly (Bericht über die Verhandlungen des krainischen Landtages) in Ljubljana include the publications of the stenographic minutes of the sessions of the Provincial Assembly, representative of the Carniolan provincial autonomy. The Provincial Assembly was responsible for certain educational, municipal, ecclesiastical and military matters as well as the issues of provincial importance (culture, public construction works, various economic matters and charity institutes). The Provincial Assembly (and Provincial Committee as the executive body of the provincial autonomy) was presided over by the Provincial Governor (Landeshauptmann). Between 1861 and 1908 the Carniolan Provincial Assembly consisted of 37 members. 10 of these were elected by large estate owners, 8 by cities and towns, 16 by the other municipalities, and 2 by the Chamber of Commerce and Craft Trade. Apart from the 36 elected representatives the Ljubljana Bishop was a permanent non‑elected member of the Provincial Assembly. After the 1908 reform the Carniolan Provincial Assembly consisted of 50 members. The published materials, describing the political, cultural and economic life in the Austrian constitutional period in Carniola, are thus an especially valuable resource for further scientific exploration.
