      • The signing of Dayton Peace Agreement in Bosnia and Herzegovina meant the end of war on the country's territory and it also set up the foundation for its development in a democratic way, which served as a basis for the beginning of the process of democratization. Democratization of Bosnia and Herzegovina is specific because: 1. the establishment of political system and the activity of political institutions are enforced by the international community, which neglected the specificity of Bosnian multicultural and multireligious society, 2. a great division of society on national basis is present, and that is weakening the activity of political institutions, 3. due to the recent war, the country has found itself in a difficult social and economical situation. Ten years after the signing of the agreement it is obvious that the process of democratization of Bosnia and Herzegovina is hindered (also) because of the agreement's content itself. Consequently louder and more serious discussions about the necessity of change or uprating of Dayton Agreement are coming forth on the national, as well as on the international level. Only by doing that will Bosnia and Herzegovina be enabled a successful consolidation of democracy and economic development and will therefore eventually be prepared for Euro Atlantic integrations and competing with other democratic countries of Europe.
