      • The thesis tries to show the history of Lože Castle with the emphasis on the school activities between the years of 1946 and 1961. For the purpose of the thesis the material under serial number PANG 258 of the School of Agriculture in Lože kept by the Provincial Archive in Nova Gorica was reviewed and analyzed. The said material shows that the school carried out at least three separate programs. The first one in the school year of 1946/47 was the Agriculture and Home Economics course, with the school year 1947/48 the Winery and Fruit Farming School was established. The latter has, with some changes and interruptions existed until 1961. In addition to these, in the course of the school's existence there were also different youth work brigades programs courses. Although at the beginning the plan was to have both the Home economics and Agricultural school, the first one was eliminated after the first year, after which the program was carried out in the form of three-month courses, on which the Archive does not keep any information. But the rest of the archive material offers an excellent insight into the school activities and into the problems the school had to face, especially in the years soon after the war, when there was a general shortage. Even though the school did not have optimal conditions for its activities, the programs were attended and completed by more than 400 students. For some of those students this was the stepping stone for further education. Therefore it can be said the School of Agriculture in Lože was a major contributor to the education of rural youth in Primorska region.
