      • Dr. Jože Pučnik se je rodil leta 1932 v Črešnjevcu. Študiral je filozofijo in primerjalno književnost in leta 1958 diplomiral. Pridružil se je krogu Revije 57, kjer je objavil več člankov, zaradi katerih so ga zaprli. Obsojen je bil na 9 let strogega zapora. Po petih letih je bil pogojno na prostosti. Takoj se je pridružil Perspektivam. Zaradi pisanja so ga vnovič zaprli, kar je sprožilo val protestov v slovenski javnosti. Po prestani kazni se je leta 1966 umaknil v Nemčijo, kjer je vnovič doštudiral in se zaposlil na Univerzi v Lüneburgu. V domovino se je pričel vračati šele sredi 80-ih let preko sodelovanja z Novo revijo. V času nastajanja političnih strank se je pridružil Socialdemokratski stranki in kmalu postal njen predsednik. Bil je predsednik Demosa in ga popeljal do volilne zmage. Na volitvah za predsednika predsedstva je boj izgubil. Demos mu je uspelo obdržati skupaj vse do konca leta 1991, ko je bil projekt osamosvojitve, h kateremu je pomembno prispeval, zaključen. Leta 1992 je postal poslanec, kasneje je predsedoval parlamentarni Preiskovalni komisiji. Pričel se je postopno umikati iz politike in se leta 1997 politično upokojil. Tudi v poznih letih je ostajal oster kritik družbe. Umrl je leta 2003 v Nemčiji.
      • Dr. Jože Pučnik was born in 1932 in Čresnjavec and graduated from University of Ljubljana with a degree in philosophy and comparative literature in 1958. In the same year, he contributed a few politicaly problematic articles to the magazine 'Revija 57' and was arrested and sentenced to nine years of rigorous imprisonment. He served five years in prison, before being conditionally released in 1963. Immediately after his release, he joined the magazine 'Perspektive', wrote more problematic articles, and was again thrown in jail – which caused popular demonstrations and protests throughout Slovenia. He finished his sentence in 1966 and moved to Germany, where he was forced to study again and was eventually employed by University of Luneburg. In the 1980s, he gradually returned to his homeland through cooperation with the 'Nova Revija'. He joined the Social Democratic Party and soon became its president. Later he became president of the Demos coalition and led it to election victory. He was also a candidate for president of the presidency of Slovenia in but he lost the elections. Mr. Pučnik meneged to keep the Demos together through the end of 1991, when the project of independance of Slovenia had already been completed. In 1992, he became a member of parliament and later president of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry. Slowly, he moved out of political life. He politicaly retired in 1997, but to the end of his life, he remained a sharp critic of society. He died in Germany in 2003.
